TERRE DES FEMMES is a non-profit human rights organisation based in Germany that supports girls and women through raising public awareness, international networking, campaigning, individual personal assistance and the promotion of self-help projects abroad.

TERRE DES FEMMES works to ensure that women and girls around the world are able to lead self-determined lives as well as enjoying equal and inalienable rights.

Christa Stolle, general secretary of TERRE DES FEMMES, was invited to speak on the occasion of the opening of a feminist art exhibition on March 3rd 2012 in Beijing, China. The feminist artists created a provoking collection of paintings and photos entitled „The Bald Girls – the first ever feminist exhibition in China“. With this exhibition the group wants to draw attention to the situation of women and women’s rights in China and to encourage women to think about their identity - sexually or otherwise.

In her speech, Christa Stolle talked about the history of the German feminist movement up from 1968.

On Saturday, 29th October 2011, more than 400 women’s rights activists, experts and guests from all over the world came together in Berlin to discuss the progressive topic of strengthening of girls’ rights worldwide - and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of TERRE DES FEMMES - Human Rights for Women.
